But their English levels are different from student to student. I design the lesson to meet their different requirements. For our students, to have a good command of English reading skill is of great importance. Knowing how to learn is more important than acquiring a lot of knowledge. PART 2 Analysis of the teaching material(教材分析) TEACHING AIMS AND DEMANDS(教学目标)·To practice vocabulary relating to music.·To read and understand a newspaper article.·To express opinions and give reasons for them.TEACHING KEY & DIFFICULT POINTS(教学重难点)·How to grasp the main ideas of the article and each paragraph.·To comprehend the content of the text clearly and quickly.·Some students may feel less confident in expressing their own opinions orally and giving reasons in English .·TEACHING AIDS: (教学用具)·Multi-media computer ; Software: Power pointPART 3 Teaching methods and learning methods(教学方法) Task-based teaching method as a guideline is applied to the design of this lesson. To achieve teaching aims above, I use different kinds of teaching and learning methods as follows:1. Skimming & scanning method.2. Communicative method, including asking and answering method, discussing method.3. Visual-teaching method including picture-showing and videos.4. To understand the text by themselves with practical reading skills.5. To study independently, cooperatively and competitively.PART 4 Teaching procedures(教学过程)The first period(第一课时)StepⅠ. Lead-inFirst listen to a piece of music called “Er Quan Ying Yue”.T: Then ask students: “What do you think of the music you just listen to?” “What kind of music is it?”S: …………T: Chinese folk music sounds so wonderful and special. It is our cultural treasure. Our nation is proud of Chinese folk music. We have a lot of top musicians, for example, Abing.T: Then ask students: "Do you like music?What kinds of music do you know ?"(folk, pop, jazz, classical, traditional, rock'n'roll……)S: …………T: Continue to show some pieces of music and ask:"Do you know them?" and "Who are they?" "what kind of music do they sing?"S: …………T: Show some pictures about famous musicians at home and abroad and ask students to guess who it is.S:……..T: "Do you know him?" "Have you heard of the name of Kong Xiangdong?"Then show pictures of Kong Xiangdong and give a brief description of him.StepⅡ. Reading — Listening Before we start "Reading", Let's guess the meanings of some words.(Show the slides.)Then please listen to the text and match the paragraphs with the topics.Understand the first sentence of each paragraph to get the general idea of the text.Step Ⅲ Reading — ScanningRead the text and complete task: True or False?Check the answers with students.Step Ⅳ Fast--reading Read the text again and answer these questions.1. What kind of music is Kong Xiangdong most famous for?2. What did Kong achieve in 1986?3. Why did Kong shave off his hair?4. Match the beginnings and endings of the sentences according to the text. (b,c,a)Check the answers with students.Step Ⅴ Voice your opinionDiscussion:What can you learn from Kong Xiangdong? (Nothing is too difficult to do if you put all your heart into it.)1.What do you think of Kong Xiangdong?2. Can you tell how Kong became a great pianist with the given key words? 3.Which musicians or singers do you like best? What’s your reason?Step Ⅵ Homework 1.Try to retell the story of " Kong goes for folk" in lesson 3.2.Work in pairs and tell your partner: (1)when you listen to music (2)what kind of music you listen to and why3.
